Blumenau was born from its relationship with the river. Along its banks, the city grew, flourished, and wrote some of its most important chapters. Among them is the story of Clube Náutico América, a place that marked generations through rowing, a sport that carried the city’s name across borders and helped shape its identity.
The América was once a stage for great achievements, encounters, and memories that remain alive in the collective imagination. Over time, however, the club became a forgotten chapter of the city’s landscape.
The América Project seeks to rewrite this story. More than restoring a club, it aims to return vitality to the Historic Center. It bridges memory and future by transforming the América into an open, accessible, and vibrant space, honoring its sporting and cultural legacy while imagining new uses for generations to come.
At the heart of the project lies the Vertical Public Park: a stepped architectural design that invites everyone to climb upward and discover new views of the Itajaí-Açu River and the Historic Center. A place for gathering, leisure, sports, and contemplation, where the city reconnects with its natural landscape and its own history.
To make this transformation possible, the project also includes a residential building and a commercial building, ensuring vitality during weekdays, evenings, and weekends. An open and active ground floor brings life to the area with gastronomic, cultural, and social spaces. The historic Casa Jansen gains a new purpose, while Clube Náutico América is restored, keeping the rowing tradition alive and opening space for new achievements.
The América Project is a vision of the future: a city that honors its memory, values its Historic Center, and creates spaces for people. A new urban landmark that celebrates Blumenau, the river, and the collective desire to build possible futures.
