Hans Broos — A Tribute to Visionary Architecture
Hans Broos is a residential project that transcends its conventional function to become an architectural and cultural landmark. Located in Blumenau, Santa Catarina, this building pays homage to Hans Broos, one of the world's greatest contemporary architecture masters, who lived and worked in the region, leaving a legacy of innovation and reflection that still inspires today.
The project was conceived as a reverence for the architect's thought and traits, integrating characteristic elements of his work, such as the materiality of concrete, the fluidity of the spaces and the connection with the environment. One of the main highlights is the free ground floor, which extends like an open square, filled with vegetation and designed to integrate the building into the urban fabric, promoting encounters and coexistence. The structure with double ceilings and carefully designed accesses create an architectural experience that invites both residents and passers-by to connect with the space.
At the highest point of the building, the roof has been transformed into the first museum dedicated to the written work of Hans Broos. This unique space includes a water reservoir that circulates externally, crowning the building with a striking design. At the center, an open tunnel to the sky offers a unique contemplative experience. On the internal walls, the architect's texts and thoughts are engraved directly on the concrete, perpetuating his philosophical and humanistic vision.
Hans Broos is not just a building; it's an innovative typology that combines housing, culture and memory in a single space. This project reflects the values and the manifesto of Alencar Possible Futures, creating architecture that inspires, connects, and celebrates the legacy of a man ahead of his time. Combining respect for history with the daring to innovate, Hans Broos is a significant contribution to the future of architecture and the city.
